Government Support For Businesses – Further Measures Announced

 

The Chancellor announced a Winter Economy Plan in place of the 2020 Budget. The Plan introduced a new employment support measure, the Job Support Scheme, which comes in to effect when the current Corona Virus Job Retention Scheme (the flexible furlough scheme) ends,  as well as changes and extensions of several of the business support schemes already in place.

The main measures, changes and extensions announced and links to further details on each are set out below and will be updated with further information as this becomes available:

In addition to the Chancellor’s announcement the Mayor of London announced some more modest support business support measures to help businesses in London address the twin challenges of the effects of the pandemic and the expected impact of Brexit.

These measure are in addition to the Job Retention Bonus which the Chancellor announced in July.
