WSM’s Girls SHINE for Cancer Research

On Saturday 29th September, Kayley, Annie, Hollie and Tasmeen took part in a night-time half marathon to raise money for Cancer Research. Our ladies power walked around the course, completing the 13.1 miles in 3 hours 40.  With no prior training, this is a very respectable time.  However more importantly, they have managed to raise a fantastic  total of £920 so far, for a truly deserving cause.

Reflecting on the experience, team captain Kayley said "The walk was a magical, eye-opening experience as we saw all the major London sights lit up at night and were supported all the way by spectators and volunteers.  Having entered in the “power walkers” section, we couldn’t stop for too long to admire the sights, but kept a good pace, finishing well within the first 200 participants of a total 10,000 people taking part”.

Overall, it was a great walk – great company, great energy and great laughs along the way. While there were some aching muscles the next day, this inspirational event  was certainly  worth the aches and pains! The donations page is still open, so if you’d like to donate, visit http://www.justgiving.com/KayleyHackshaw to help out now.
