We have lots of keen cyclists in the office, so when the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability contacted us to let us know about a cycling fundraiser in the same vein as Row Hard earlier in the year, we knew there would be a number of people interested.
The event took place in the hospital’s Grand Hall, and involved teams of five racing ten miles in relay on stationary watt bikes, with the three fastest teams then going head to head. Unfortunately, we did have a few initial drop outs, but the final line up of the ‘WSM Wheelers’ consisted of Andy Whelan, Jamie Stebbing, Louisa Edwardes, Sam Fisher and Jack Christie, who were able to pull together on the night and produce an impressive performance.
After dominating the first heat, staying in the lead by a margin of 25 seconds for pretty much the whole ten miles, the final was a much closer affair. With some of the opposition kitted out in lycra and looking pro, the WSM Wheelers were neck and neck with The Roehampton Club, but with a strong finish from Louisa we closed the deal winning by a ‘comfortable’ margin of 1.75 seconds.
One of the sponsors, Dominos, threw in free pizza for all the competitors which went down very well with the exhausted cyclists. If you would like to donate some money for our efforts, please visit our fundraising page here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/WSMPartnersLLP.
