The Merton Business Support Services Launch

The owner managed business team from WSM were out in force at the launch of the Merton Business Support Service (MBSS) held at Wimbledon Film Studios last night. This expert line up, headed by Shakeel Butt and Ian Mitchell, are part of the delivery partnership for this new initiative to help and advise businesses employing less than 50 people within the London Borough of Merton.

Brief speeches from Chris Lee, director of regeneration; Stephen Alambritis, leader of the council; Councillor Andrew Judge and James McGinlay, head of sustainable communities, outlined the huge amount of support that Merton are providing to attract business into the borough and to help those that are already here to grow. Enthusiastic presentations from successful local entrepreneurs followed to reinforce the message that Merton really is open for business.

Wimbledon Film and Television Studios is itself a success story for the borough. It has over 220,000 square feet of production space and is the leading independently-owned studio in the UK with film credits such as Meryl Streep's 'The Iron Lady' and TV's 'Episodes' with Matt Le Blanc. The studio is surrounded by the Media Village, a great environment for young entrepreneurial talent in the media sector to flourish.
