STEM4 Quiz Night
The annual STEM4 quiz night came round again last Friday evening, giving the WSM team chance to clear the cobwebs and test the grey matter. Being this year’s nominated charity, everyone was keen to support them and we managed to get together a team of eight people down at the Sacred Heart Church for an evening of fundraising.
STEM4 are a local charity, who aim to raise awareness of teenage mental health issues and so in line with World Mental Health Day, they organise a quiz night each year to raise money for the charity. The evening was a great success with a packed out hall of around 200 people in attendance and managing to raise a fantastic £2,500.
Our team, the Wimbledon Super Mavericks, felt very much out of practice and so crammed on capital cities and food related facts before hand, although unfortunately these topics didn’t crop up! We came out with a fairly respectable score of 60 points (around fourth from bottom!) which wasn’t too bad considering the other highly competitive teams! The night involved a fun game of heads and tails, in which Chirag came third; a raffle; a frustrating Dingbats round; and a light dinner of cheese, meats and bread with poached pears for desert.
It was a fantastic fundraising evening and we were delighted to be able to support such a great charity. For more information on what STEM4 do, please visit their website: www.stem4.org.uk.
