Russell-Cooke Football Game
Last night, the WSM boys in blue came together and laced up their boots for the first time to play Russell-Cooke in a friendly 6 a side football match down in Wandsworth.
Team Russell-Cooke were coming back from a defeat in the cricket earlier in the summer, so were ready and eager to put in a winning performance. The game started with high intensity, with several big challenges going in around the park and neither team giving an inch to their white collar opposition. WSM then got the initial breakthrough with a well worked team goal. The lead wasn’t held for long with Russell-Cooke quickly knocking in a couple of clean goals and pulled ahead which they then held for the rest of the game.
The game continued with good energy and by the end both teams were certainly feeling the hour of sprints. It ended with Russell-Cooke taking the win 15-10. Andy Hillman, the Russell-Cooke goalkeeper and team manager, took our Man of the Match award making some brilliant saves. A notable mention to Nick Sissling for revitalising his old nickname of princess by putting in a number of Jurgen Klinsmann-esque dives and also netting four goals.
The evening finished with beers and food at the Grand Union in Wandsworth. A big thank you to everyone that got involved and of course to Russell-Cooke for hosting us. We look forward to the rematch.
Goal scorers from WSM: Princess Sissling 4, J Hoskin 3, H Edwards 2 & B Lee 1.
