NCS The Challenge Network

August 20, 2014

For the last couple of Wednesday afternoons, we have had different groups of 15-17 year olds come to the WSM office to present a variety of inspirational ideas to us. The scheme is run by the National Citizen Service (NCS), a government run scheme and the charity, Challenge Network; and is aimed at inspiring and bringing together young people to help the community and develop life skills.

One of the activities they take part in is to organise a project that promotes a particular issue that they feel strongly connected to. As a team they have to decide on a campaign, do the research, and come up with the idea and financial costing behind it. They then have to present it to a panel of three ‘dragons’, one of whom is our very own Ian Mitchell; who decide which group gets the £80 to fund and action the campaign.

The team visit us at Pinnacle House to present their ideas as a practice run before the ‘dragons’ and get feedback or further ideas. There is also a chance for them to take a tour of the office and ask any questions about general office life or accountancy in particular.

Good luck to Team Ward who not only have to present their campaign on Friday, are getting their GCSE results tomorrow!
