Merton Best Business Awards 2016

The excitement and anticipation were palpable as the 4th annual Merton Best Business Awards rolled around last Thursday evening. Held at the prestigious All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and hosted by the fantastic Rory Campbell, the awards celebrate the achievements of Merton’s local businesses and individuals.

The glammed-up WSM cohort enjoyed a champagne reception and a chance to mingle with the finalists, organisers and fellow sponsors of the event before moving into the dining room to start the evening’s proceedings.

After enjoying the welcome speeches from Andrew Wakefield and Diana Sterck of the Merton Chamber of Commerce, as well as hearing from the sponsors of the event including our very own Gavin Stebbing, the guests were treated to 2 of the evening’s 3 delicious courses. Host Rory kept everyone entertained as he was joined by the mysterious ‘Pamela’ to perform a range of classic songs and even initiate a conga line!

After everyone had caught their breath it was time to get down to business and find out the winners of the night’s awards.  It was fantastic to see the hard work and success of Merton’s local businesses and entrepreneurs being recognised, and WSM offers their congratulations to all the winners, runners-up and finalists. As headline sponsors, Gavin had the honour of presenting the Overall Winner Award to the jubilant Eligo Recruitment, who also scooped the Employer of the Year award.

Overall, it was an absolutely fabulous night and WSM are proud to be part of such a thriving business community. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Merton Best Business Awards 2017!

Amanda Menassa

Amanda graduated from Brunel University, with a joint honours degree, achieving a BSC and BA degree in Leisure Management and Television and film studies. Amanda started her career in a customer service role before joining the hotel group Le Meridien as an Events coordinator, she was in the hotel industry for seven years and during her time won an award from a major international airline for her outstanding attitude and dedication to customer service, which she achieved while working for the Rezidor hotel group in the position of Airline Crew Manager. Amanda has over 20 years experience in customer relations and event management.
