Martial Arts for Breast Cancer Awareness

Friday 23rd October was National ‘Wear it Pink’ day, to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer charities. To support the day, one of our contacts Dickie Wilkinson organised a martial arts lesson with Steve Dixon from Holistic Fitness and the chance for Wimbledon professionals to become a pink belt!

Friday afternoon, five of the WSM ladies headed to studios on broadway to take part in the martial arts lesson, along with 12 other people from the local business community. After a vigorous warm up that left us exhausted, we were a little terrified as to what we had let ourselves in for! We were then paired up and went through various different kickboxing moves, followed by some key self defence techniques.

It was really good fun, even for beginners, and a great way to let our hair down with our colleagues, plus all the money raised was going to Breast Cancer Now.

WSM takes part in many charitable activities throughout the year, including Movember starting from the 1st November, which focuses on raising awareness for men’s health and this was a perfect opportunity to support women’s health charities.
