Happy Retirement Philip!

The end of March meant that it was time for Marks Bloom senior partner, Philip Weinberg, to retire and formally pass on the baton to the next generation. What better way to celebrate his 40 years with the firm than a wonderful lunch in one of his favourite restaurants, The French Table in Surbiton.

All of Philip’s team from Marks Bloom, together with many of his more recent colleagues from WSM, got together to wish Philip farewell and to thank him for his many years of hard work and dedication to the firm and its clients. The French Table excelled in producing some spectacularly unusual dishes, during the eating of which Dave Evans warmly thanked Philip for the successful partnership between them over the last 30 years of working together. Lauren took the opportunity on behalf of Andy and the burgeoning insolvency team to publicly express her appreciation for Philip’s guidance and teaching during her career at Marks Bloom, where she found his great depth of knowledge a constant source of inspiration.

After a fine response from Philip, a few words from Gavin and Maureen and a toast to ‘retirement’, the party adjourned to The Antelope next door to continue the celebrations in a more relaxed style. Philip decided to leave before things got too messy, making his way to visit his daughter in Hull for a long weekend, but there were clearly some that felt the celebrations should continue into the evening where the ‘hard core’ ended up with a traditional Marks Bloom curry on Surbiton High Street.

Staff and clients alike would like to wish Philip all the best for a long and happy retirement.

Amanda Menassa

Amanda graduated from Brunel University, with a joint honours degree, achieving a BSC and BA degree in Leisure Management and Television and film studies. Amanda started her career in a customer service role before joining the hotel group Le Meridien as an Events coordinator, she was in the hotel industry for seven years and during her time won an award from a major international airline for her outstanding attitude and dedication to customer service, which she achieved while working for the Rezidor hotel group in the position of Airline Crew Manager. Amanda has over 20 years experience in customer relations and event management.
