Launch Night of the Merton Best Business Awards 2017

Last night saw the highly anticipated Launch of the Merton Best Business Awards 2017, hosted by the Merton Chamber at the highly innovative ‘Taste’ Restaurant in South Thames College.

Victoria Nicol, opened the event with a warm welcome and ran through the structure of the evening before introducing Stephen Alambritis who presented a speech about how exciting a time it is for businesses in Merton and encouraging the participants to enter.

Our very own Simon Marsh then delivered a highly enthusiastic speech about the challenges that businesses are facing post Brexit and offered encouragement to the participants that the Merton Best Business Awards provided the ideal opportunity to showcase the talent, dedication and ability to rise to the challenges.

Simon Speech“WSM Advisors are delighted to be Headline Sponsors of the very best of business awards, certainly the best I’ve seen in Britain- the 2017 Merton Best Business Awards.

WSM have been fortunate enough to be headline sponsors of Merton Best Business Awards – along with Merton Council and Merton Chamber – for several years. Like the Council and the Chamber, WSM are about delivering premier standard services and providing professional advice to businesses in the Borough and further afield and to the Awards Winners and those aspiring to be award winners. 2017 is proving a really challenging time for businesses. With uncertainty arising from Brexit, the Trump presidency and the general economy to the unwanted certainties from Spreadsheet Phil’s £4bn raid on entrepreneurs yesterday, more tax rises in April and the imminent rises in Business Rates. What remains impressive is that businesses and entrepreneurs are rising to the challenge and proving the forecasters wrong by delivering growth, creating jobs and finding new ways of doing business. This ability of businesses and entrepreneurs to drive the economy is very clearly demonstrated here in Merton – the 2017 Merton Best Business Awards provides the ideal opportunity to showcase that talent, dedication and ability to rise to the challenge”

The evening continued with a few words from  John Merriman – former winner of the Merton Best Business Awards 2015 who offered his insight as to how he grew his business and went on to win the Merton Best Business Awards.

A chance then for sponsors and participants of the awards to exchange introductions and to find out more about what it takes to be the best in business from other established and highly successful individuals.

A big thank you to Jamie from South Thames College and Diana, Caroline and the team at Merton Chamber for hosting the event. Looking forward to the next stage!
